Results of the first post-season testing day in Abu Dhabi

The first day of post-season testing has come to an end today. During this day, the young drivers from the teams tested the cars from this season, using the 13-inch tires, like Nyck de Vries with Mercedes, Oscar Piastri with Alpine, or Pato O’Ward for McLaren.

While the younger ones were trying out Formula 1, those from this season were already training on 2019 single-seaters (also known as “mules”) which were equipped with the new Pirelli tires for the next season, the famous 18-inch tires.

All teams participated in these tests for the new tires, except for Williams, which did not prepare a car suitable for 18-inch tires. As for Lewis Hamilton’s non-participation, it was already planned as he will be knighted during an investiture at Windsor Castle this Wednesday. The continuation and conclusion of the post-season tests will take place tomorrow.
