Russell at Mercedes on the day after the Abu Dhabi GP
The British driver will begin his collaboration with the German team the day after the last race of the season during private testing.
Having been part of the Mercedes team since 2016, George Russell is about to achieve his goal by joining the team as a full-time driver for the 2022 season, replacing the Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas.
Happiness never comes alone, he will be able to take the wheel of the Silver Arrow from the post-season private tests.
Quizzed during the pre-race press conference in Brazil, he simply replied:
It will be on Monday morning, after the Abu Dhabi race.
He also added:
I will participate in the test and then go directly to the factory. We will do some simulator and meet several people.
For the record, teams will be able to field two cars during the tests, but one of them must be equipped with 18-inch wheels.
Currently, no information about the second driver that the star firm will field during these tests.
