The Abu Dhabi circuit is moving forward with the construction of the new track
The circuit will be revamped for the 2021 edition with a modified layout.
The circuit management presented a video on the progress of the work and indicates a progress rate of 50%.
More than 50% of the construction work has been completed. The new turns of the circuit are emerging to welcome the F1 during the last Grand Prix of the 2021 season.
Mark Hughes, consultant on the transformation project of the circuit explained: « The circuit and the management team of Yas Marina Circuit have really taken into account the fans’ desire to have more spectacle and the effort deployed by the teams should not be underestimated. »
These works will allow drivers to race closer side-by-side and will create opportunities for overtaking, making the races more exciting. This is a definite benefit for spectators both here on-site and on TV.
As a reminder, the changes are as follows:
– Suppression de la chicane et élargissement de l’épingle au virage 7
– Suppression des virages 11, 12, 13 et 14 qui sont remplacé par un long virage en Banking
– Ouverture de l’angle des virage 17, 18, 19 et 20
