Official: Mercedes launches the W09 on track
The Mercedes team, reigning world champion, has presented its new car for the 2018 season. The W09 has already hit the track with Valtteri Bottas at the wheel at Silverstone.
The 2018 Mercedes team’s new single-seater primarily revealed its colors on the Silverstone track. In its usual gray, adorned with the Halo which stands out a bit more than on the other models presented so far, the W09 made its first laps with Valtteri Bottas behind the wheel.
The single-seater was then officially and ceremoniously unveiled live on the team’s website and on social media. The W09 EQ Power +, as it is officially called, has the heavy responsibility of performing at least as well as its predecessor, which won both the driver and constructor titles in 2018. Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, and Toto Wolff were present at the unveiling, along with young Billy Monger, invited by the reigning world champion.
The W09 will be on track this Monday for the first day of official testing of the season at the Barcelona circuit. These first laps of the car at Silverstone having been done as part of the authorized promotional filming days.
