Official: Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc with Sauber in 2018
The Sauber team announced that Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc would drive the Swiss cars for the 2018 season. Antonio Giovinazzi will be the reserve driver. The team also took the opportunity to present a provisional livery with the Alfa Romeo logo, its new title sponsor.
Things are moving within Sauber’s ranks these past few days! Following the announcement of its partnership with Alfa Romeo, the Swiss team introduced its 2018 drivers during a press conference where Jean Todt, Sergio Marchionne, and Chase Carey spoke.
As expected, Marcus Ericsson retains his seat in the Hinwil team. The Swede, supported by the consortium involved in the team’s latest acquisition, will begin his fourth season with Sauber. Alongside him, the young Monegasque Charles Leclerc has been chosen. The reigning F2 champion, who dominated the field this year in the discipline, will make his official debut as a full-time driver at the opening round next March.
During this press conference, Sauber also unveiled a provisional livery on its 2017 car, featuring the Alfa Romeo logo, the new partner and title sponsor of the team.
