Official: F1 to perform in the streets of Marseille in June 2018
On the sidelines of the French Grand Prix, which will be held at the Paul Ricard circuit from June 22 to 24, the city of Marseille will host Formula 1 cars and their drivers for a grand show in its streets, similar to what took place in London this year before the Silverstone race.
The return of the French Grand Prix to the global Formula 1 calendar in 2018 is a major event for French motorsport.
If the first 3-day “passes” are on sale starting today on the Grand Prix’s official website, an important announcement has also been revealed regarding the week preceding the Grand Prix.
Indeed, a show will be organized in the streets of Marseille featuring single-seaters and their drivers. Such a show had already been held earlier this year in London, alongside the British Grand Prix, and experienced significant popular success, which prompted Liberty Media, the new owners of the sport, to try the experience again, this time in the Phocaean city, located only 40 km from the Paul Ricard circuit where the race weekend will take place.
The city of Marseille is already experienced in hosting major sporting events, having previously been the setting for several stages of the Tour de France, such as the individual time trial last July that wound through the southern districts of the city.
