Official: Paul di Resta replaces Felipe Massa at Williams for the Hungarian GP
Felipe Massa, feeling unwell since last night, is forced to throw in the towel for the rest of the weekend. It will be the third Williams driver, Paul di Resta, who will replace him starting from the qualifying session.
Last night, after the second free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Felipe Massa went to the circuit’s medical center after feeling unwell. Taken to a Budapest hospital for further tests, the Brazilian reportedly contracted a virus.
Present this morning for the third practice session, he was however forced to step down and withdraw from the rest of the weekend, feeling too weak to fulfill his role during the qualifying and the race.
As soon as the news was confirmed, Williams announced that they would entrust the Brazilian’s car to the team’s third driver, the Scot Paul di Resta. The former Force India driver will therefore return to Formula 1 after having participated in 58 Grand Prix from 2011 to 2013, all with the Indian team.
