Haas: Romain Grosjean didn’t make it to Sochi!

Romain Grosjean’s Russian weekend is one to forget! The Haas driver struggled from Friday to Sunday to find a balance with his car that he ultimately never achieved.

But if he didn’t think he would reach the points in the race, he hoped at least to complete the entire Grand Prix to gather important information about his car. That was without counting on Jolyon Palmer’s Renault, which got in his way, prematurely ending his race from the first lap: « I made a good start and was inside Palmer at the braking. I don’t understand why he turned into me. I was on the inside and he cut me off. I tried as much as possible to take the racing line but he hit me, spun, and then came back to hit me again. The car was too damaged, and my race was over. »

Of course, the Briton contests this view of the accident and points to Grosjean as responsible for the collision. However, the race stewards determined that neither driver was more responsible than the other, and therefore did not pursue further investigations.

On his side, Kevin Magnussen did not have more success. Penalized 5 seconds for cutting turn number 2 after the start, the Dane was never in the rhythm to aim for points: « It wasn’t a great weekend for us, but we learned some things nonetheless. We had three good weekends at the beginning of the season, and this one is a bit less good for various reasons. Fortunately, we always learn, and I don’t think this weekend is representative of the rest of the season. It’s difficult when the field is so tight. You don’t need to make big mistakes to find yourself at the bottom. »
