Felipe Nasr gives Sauber hope on the Austin track

It’s been a long time since a Sauber appeared in the middle of the standings during a practice session. This Friday, Felipe Nasr gave his team hope by securing 12th and then 13th place times during their first laps of the year on the Austin track.

The Brazilian was visibly satisfied with his day: « It was a positive day. I was able to have good sensations right from FP1. We worked on different car setups and it seems we are heading in the right direction. The pace looks good, but we all know it’s only Friday… we need to analyze the data but it’s definitely a very good start to the weekend ».

Only 21st in FP2, his teammate Marcus Ericsson looked glum: “It was not the best day for me. I had a lot of difficulties with the car’s balance in FP2, particularly with the Supersoft tires where I really didn’t feel good with the car,” the Swede explained.

The good performance of Nasr could help Ericsson in his own understanding of his car: « We need to analyze the data and understand where we are. It’s rather positive to see that the other car seems well-balanced, we can learn from it to be stronger tomorrow. »
