Official: Sergio Pérez to stay with Force India in 2017
Sergio Pérez officially announced after qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix that he would be driving for the Force India team in 2017. The Mexican and the Indian team will thus enter their fourth year of collaboration.
Just after the qualifying session, Sergio Pérez confirmed to Canal + that he would indeed stay with Force India for the 2017 season.
To the question of whether the Mexican had finally signed his contract for the 2017 season, he answered: « Yes, yes, it’s done. I will be with Force India next year. I am very happy to be able to continue with the team. »
Several rumors had him going either to Renault or, more recently, to Haas to replace Esteban Gutierrez. But in the end, Pérez played the continuity card and will stay for a fourth season with Force India, the team for which he has secured 4 podiums, including two this season.
