Mercedes dominates once again at Sepang
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton exchanged fastest times in the first two free practice sessions of the Malaysian Grand Prix. The battle for the world championship title is on!
The best time of the first free practice session this weekend was achieved by a visibly happy Nico Rosberg as he experienced the newly resurfaced Sepang track: « It is really very nice to drive on the new surface. Quite challenging, but with a lot of grip. It’s quite hard to find the right settings on a new tarmac, but we are on the right track. »
No need to worry about the expected performance of the Mercedes driver this weekend: « For the race, even the Soft tires seem to be working quite well. We do not expect any big surprises, then. Strategically speaking, we will have to use the hardest components, of course. But we remain confident. »
Same story for Lewis Hamilton, who took the best time during the second session this afternoon (this morning, in France): « Today was a good day. No issues to report, and we were able to complete our programs during both sessions. There is a lot of data to analyze to ensure we have a good understanding of the tires and our position relative to others. In summary, a good foundation for tomorrow and the rest of the weekend! »
