Rosberg admits he is powerless against Hamilton
Nico Rosberg was soundly beaten by team-mate Lewis Hamilton in qualifying, but admits he wasn't fast enough and prefers to concentrate on the race, where he believes he has the pace to challenge for victory.
Nearly half a second separates the two Mercedes drivers in the top two spots on the starting grid of the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza track.
Lewis Hamilton clearly showed a strong sign of superiority on a track where it is generally difficult to create large gaps with equal equipment. Nico Rosberg is well aware of this and accepts his defeat of the day: “I had a pretty good weekend so far, but Lewis pulled out a great lap. I couldn’t beat him today,” acknowledges the somewhat resigned German driver.
The hardest part for the current second in the drivers’ standings will be to stay focused on his race, from which he nevertheless hopes to come out positively, trusting in his pace: « My race pace was pretty good during practice. So I’m quite confident for tomorrow. The race is long, and you never know what might happen. I’m going to give it my all. »
