Official: Nico Rosberg at Mercedes until 2018
It's now official: Nico Rosberg has extended his lease with the Mercedes team for a further two years. This means he'll be behind the wheel of a Silver Arrow until 2018.
Negotiations had been initiated several weeks ago by Gerhard Berger, commissioned by Nico Rosberg, to negotiate an extension of his current contract with Mercedes.
The German driver is now tied with his team until 2018, just like his teammate Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes simply announced the news on its Twitter account by writing: “It’s done!” before releasing a statement saying: “Nico Rosberg has been an important member of the Silver Arrows since their return to the sport in 2010, and he has played a crucial role in the team’s successes from that point on.”
Nico Rosberg also congratulated himself on this new agreement on his Twitter account by posting a photo of himself, accompanied by Toto Wolff, holding his new contract.
