Williams expected more than Bottas’ two points

Williams' Austrian weekend ended on a rather negative note. Although Bottas managed to salvage a few points, the team was expecting much more from the Red Bull Ring, which is ideal for FW38s.

Williams expected more than Bottas’ two points

Valtteri Bottas is rather disappointed with his performance at the Red Bull Ring, a track that traditionally suits Williams quite well. But this year, the Pirelli tires have changed the situation: « We were really expecting more points from this race. The main issue was getting the tires to work and last. This is something we need to understand before heading to Silverstone next weekend because the temperatures are likely to be similar there. »

There is still quite a bit of work left for the Finn before heading to the home race for Williams at Silverstone next weekend: « I don’t think our car was too bad this weekend, we just had difficulty getting the tires to work. It’s a disappointing day but it’s going to be important to learn from today and move forward. »

Felipe Massa also experienced a disappointing race and had to retire at the end of the race: « The race was going pretty well for me. I was fighting, gained a few positions from the start, and had a pretty good pace. Unfortunately, I had a puncture and had to pit once again. I tried to save my brakes throughout the race, but in the end, I was behind Gutierrez and the temperatures skyrocketed, and I had to retire. »
