Force India: Pérez penalized 5 places on the starting grid in Baku
Sergio Pérez will lose five places on the grid for Sunday's European Grand Prix, following a gearbox change at the end of Free Practice 3.
The qualifications are already complicated for Sergio Pérez. The Force India driver will indeed have to suffer a 5-place grid penalty this Sunday for changing his gearbox.
This change follows the Mexican driver’s off-track incident this morning at the end of FP3. Exiting turn number 15, at the same spot as Daniel Ricciardo on Friday morning, the Force India hit the outer wall, leaving the driver without control and causing significant damage to the rear of his car.
The gearbox, damaged in the accident, had to be completely replaced on the Force India. All the team’s hopes now rest on Nico Hülkenberg, who was very fast this morning during FP3.
