Magnussen and Palmer have ambitions for Renault in Baku

Could the streets of Baku suit Renault and their drivers? While the times and rankings of Jolyon Palmer and Kevin Magnussen may not suggest it, the latter remains with a positive impression of his day: « The car wasn’t fantastic in the first session, but it was much better in FP2 thanks to our progress on settings and the improvement of the track. I’m quite happy with the balance of the car. »

Of course, there is still work to be done for the Dane. But the track already seems to please him: « It’s a great circuit and quite a challenge. We have a bit of work to do on the brake locking, but everything should improve as the surface evolves. I can’t wait to come back tomorrow once we have worked more on the car. I think we’re gearing up for an interesting weekend. » he concluded.

The enthusiasm for the track is also present with his teammate, Jolyon Palmer: “It was quite slippery in FP1 and I think most drivers had at least a scare during the day. We made good progress in our understanding of the track and the improvements made to the car. I clearly appreciated the extra grip obtained during the super-soft runs, but we always want to achieve a better balance in the fast corners. We should be able to do that by tweaking the setup before qualifying,” said the Briton after the practice sessions.
