Verstappen: rain or shine, it doesn’t matter!
The changeable weather in Monaco today doesn't seem to be troubling Max Verstappen. He'll be starting from the pits in his Red Bull, and is looking forward to an attacking race.
After qualifications were truncated by his off-track excursion at the start of the session, Max Verstappen decided to start from the pit lane this afternoon.
The rain falling on Monaco since this morning could be an advantage for the Red Bull driver. Indeed, starting from the pits will allow him to avoid a potentially chaotic first turn here, especially on a track made very slippery.
Upon returning from the drivers’ parade, which unfolded without a drop of rain, weather conditions were naturally at the center of discussions. But when Max Verstappen was asked about his expectations for the race in these conditions, he didn’t seem to care much: « Yes, of course, everything will depend on the weather. Whether it rains or not, it doesn’t really matter in the end. » The Dutchman is therefore expecting a long race and is not necessarily relying on the weather to gain positions. An attacking race in prospect?
