Sauber still looking for a financial partner

The further the season progresses, the closer Sauber gets to the back of the grid. Battling with the Manor team, the Swiss team is far from the performances it once knew. A bygone era for Monisha Kaltenborn, the team’s CEO: “I think Formula 1 has changed a lot. If you look at the era when Peter Sauber was team director, and I’m not talking about his return in 2010, it was a very different sport, and a kind of very different business too, with different financial and sporting organization.”

The times are tough for independent teams like Sauber: « The challenge for private teams like ours has become much more significant, year after year, particularly due to regulatory changes that have made us spend a lot recently. »

The difficulty of finding sponsors and a long-term financial partner remains the main goal for Kaltenborn and Sauber: « We have some challenges to overcome and we are working hard to get out of this situation. I am confident that all of this will be resolved quickly. If you look at the current Formula 1, to be a good independent, you need a strong partner. So we are open to this. »
