Force India aims for Q3 in Monaco
After a satisfactory first day, the two Force India drivers are now dreaming of a good result on the streets of Monaco. Sergio Perez and Nico Hülkenberg, who were in the top three in both sessions, will be aiming for the final qualifying session on Saturday.
Without being dazzling and without attracting attention, the two Force India cars did the job by placing in the Top 10 during both sessions, except for Nico Hülkenberg, who was 11th in FP2.
This does not prevent the German from being optimistic for the future on a track he particularly enjoys: « It’s a very promising start to the weekend. A day for which our priority was to complete our running plans. Driving on this track is always fun, it’s a circuit that tests your limits. Even the resurfaced areas had rather good grip, which gave you confidence to drive. We checked off all the points on our list and we were able to put on the Ultra Soft tires in the afternoon to learn a bit more about them. The car’s behavior is positive. »
Same story for Sergio Perez, who secured the 8th place in both sessions of the day: « Driving in Monaco is always a big challenge, even during practice sessions. You have to find your rhythm quickly and build your speed lap after lap. It was a good day for us, without any issues, and we were able to learn about the new tire components. I’m not completely happy with the car at the moment, so the best is yet to come. »
