Hamilton and Rosberg close the Barcelona chapter

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. This saying seems to have been adopted by Lewis Hamilton since the beginning of the season. Mired in mechanical problems, poor strategic choices, and avoidable accidents, the three-time world champion experienced a very difficult moment during his collision with Nico Rosberg on the first lap of the Spanish Grand Prix.

After a meeting with all the team’s leading members, a consensus emerged, and the two men, rivals on the track and no longer really friends off it, decided not to dwell on the issue, as Lewis Hamilton said on the sidelines of the Monaco Grand Prix: “Barcelona was one of my worst feelings. But, as I always say, the real test is how you pick yourself up after hitting rock bottom. It was a tough time for all of us after the race, but now that chapter is closed, and we look forward to Monaco.”

A situation very different from that seen during the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix, where an initial clash between the two men had ignited the powder and created an irreparable distance between them.

Today, Nico Rosberg echoes the statements of his teammate: “I was disgusted after what happened in Spain. For me, but especially for the team. We are all very invested, and I know the difficulty of making these impressive cars work, so crashing both of them into the gravel was the worst possible scenario. But we have talked about it, and it’s time now to leave it behind us.”

The next round starts this Thursday in the streets of Monaco, where Nico Rosberg has won the last three editions against a Lewis Hamilton who is not very comfortable between the rails and sometimes unlucky, like last year.
