Arrivabene ironically dismisses rumours that he is leaving Ferrari
Maurizio Arrivabene has responded with irony to rumours that he is leaving Ferrari after a series of poor results at the start of the 2016 season.
In all sports, and particularly in Formula 1, rumors run rampant when a team’s results do not meet its expectations.
The start of the season for Ferrari is, of course, not what the Scuderia’s management had hoped for. With a car capable of winning, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen continue facing setbacks and strategic errors that cause them to miss out on important victories.
It didn’t take much for a certain number of rumors to suggest a replacement for Maurizio Arrivabene, the current sporting director of the Scuderia. The Italian prefers not to pay attention and remains focused on his goal: “I don’t listen to all these rumors. The only purpose of these rumors is to create tensions within the team and that doesn’t help us. We must focus all our talent on what we have to do without listening to everything else.”
The origin of these rumors matters little to Arrivabene, who prefers to make ironic comments about the situation: « These rumors also concern someone at Mercedes blah, blah, blah… I was saying the other day that the only name they forgot on their list, because their list is full of names, is that of Tyrion Lannister [editor’s note: a famous character from the series Game Of Thrones]. He might be the best candidate, but they forgot him! »
It seems that the series Game of Thrones is quite popular with the Formula 1 world since Daniil Kvyat admitted to watching an episode when he learned about his dismissal from Red Bull…
