Sainz and Verstappen put Toro Rosso in the Top 10
The two Toro Rosso drivers accomplished a great deal on the first day of the Chinese Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz was pleased to score two top-10 finishes, as was his team-mate Max Verstappen.
We know, in Formula 1, the primary goal of a driver is to outperform their teammate. With equal equipment, this battle is the only possible measure to evaluate a driver’s talent compared to another.
In this little game of competition, Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen are very strong. The two Toro Rosso drivers fought tooth and nail during the two sessions, each taking turns finishing ahead of the other.
The Spaniard is obviously very happy with his performance: « Today was yet another perfect Friday for us. We had no issues with the car, which means we were able to complete the entire planned program. I think this Grand Prix is going to be highly contested, and I am really looking forward to the rest of the weekend, especially the qualifying with the return of the old format. »
Max Verstappen is also satisfied with his day’s work: The morning session was a bit difficult because it was impossible for us to do long runs due to the red flags. In FP2, we were able to do a lot of things and even though there is still a lot of work left this evening to improve, we can be satisfied with the work accomplished today.
