Sauber did very little running on this first day in Melbourne
With changing and wet weather conditions, the two Sauber drivers spent more time in the pit than on the track. Enough to approach the start of the season with frustration.
The first day of free practice for this first Grand Prix of the 2016 Formula 1 season was marked by frustration for the majority of drivers.
Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson are among those who drove the least this Friday, even skipping the FP2 session, due to track conditions deemed too wet to put a wheel outside.
« It is obviously not the best possible start to the season. » Felipe Nasr rightly judged before adding: « At least we managed to do a few laps during the first session and we found that everything worked well on the car. In FP2 we decided not to go out due to the rain and strong wind. »
Same sentiment from his teammate, Marcus Ericsson: « It was not the Friday we were hoping for. It will be important to be very productive tomorrow to achieve as many kilometers as possible with the car. I remain confident that the weather conditions will improve over the weekend. »
Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson finished 13th and 15th respectively in the first free practice session.
