Renault F1 unveils its colors for 2016
After unveiling their car during winter testing in Barcelona, the Renault team has swapped their black test livery for a dominant yellow. This is how they will appear on Friday in Melbourne for the first Grand Prix of the season.
The RS16, which marks Renault’s great return to Formula 1 as a full-fledged constructor, was unveiled in Paris last February. On this occasion, the new French single-seater sported a predominantly black livery, which was not meant to be final.
This morning, just a few days before the first official race laps for the season opening Grand Prix in Australia, the brand with the diamond revealed its final livery featuring a dominant yellow, characteristic of the French brand’s logo.
No new sponsor is apparent on this livery, but the French team nevertheless wanted to highlight the Infiniti brand, previously present on the Red Bull cars. Genii, still a shareholder of the team, is also present on the rear of the single-seater.
Cyril Abiteboul, the team’s managing director, stated: « Black and Sirius yellow are naturally the institutional colors of Renault, but they are also part of the Renault Sport heritage. The RS01, the first F1 designed by Renault, was adorned with them in 1977. This latest livery is a nod to that fantastic car. »
