Sauber reveals the shape of its C35
The Sauber team has officially unveiled its car for the 2016 season. The new C35, powered by Ferrari, will be on the Barcelona track starting tomorrow for the four days of winter testing.
Sauber had participated in the first days of winter testing with its old car, showcasing only its new colors and new sponsors.
One day before returning to the track in Spain, the Swiss team revealed on its website the design of the C35 that will participate in the 2016 Formula 1 season.
The new single-seater is an evolution of the 2015 model and does not present a real break. With limited resources, ambitions remain realistic for the sporting director, Monisha Kaltenborn: Obviously, there is a certain position we would like to reach. But, to start, it is important to establish ourselves in the middle of the pack. Then we can focus on better individual positions.
The drivers are also cautious, as Marcus Ericsson’s words highlight: “The battle for positions is becoming fiercer. But I am convinced that with the new car, we will make a step forward so that we can finish in the points.”
Felipe Nasr remains on the same wavelength as his teammate: « It’s difficult for me to predict how the positions behind the best teams will play out this season, and where we will be able to line up in this fight. »
With its 2015 single-seater, Sauber had nothing to be ashamed of during the first test days in Barcelona last week, as Marcus Ericsson managed to secure the 9th best time, ahead of the Toro Rosso cars, for example.
