Rossi equals Manor’s best result this season in front of his home crowd
A race full of twists and turns allowed Alexander Rossi to shine in front of his home crowd. With his 12th place finish, he equals Manor's best result of the season.
Alexander Rossi succeeded in his first home race at the wheel of the Manor. Although he didn’t score any points, the American still had the satisfaction of finishing the race and thereby equaling his team’s best result of the season.
« It was a truly amazing week and finishing 12th in the race is incredibly exciting for me and the team. » he exclaimed after the race. « I am very proud to have raced in front of my home crowd and to match the team’s best performance this season for what is only my third Grand Prix. » he added.
However, the race wasn’t the easiest for Rossi: « The race was quite tough at the beginning, which was rather unfortunate. There was a Williams driver in the pack who had picked up some debris, and to avoid him, Will and I found ourselves in the same spot on the track. Unfortunately, we touched, and I’m sorry for Will that the damage to his car ended his race. »
Stevens, of course, came out rather frustrated from his race: “I’m really disappointed not to have had the opportunity to really race the Grand Prix. I had made a very good start and was in a position to pass Alex [Rossi] at the first corner. And then, boom. My race ended when someone hit me from behind.”
