Rossi is proud to race at home this weekend
Alexander Rossi will be the first American driver in over eight years to race in Formula 1 in front of his home crowd. The Manor driver is aware of his responsibility and the honor awarded to him.
First American to drive in Formula 1, on home soil, since Scott Speed in 2007, Alexander Rossi is proud of his presence on the starting grid of this United States Grand Prix.
After four years of biding his time and waiting for a starting position, the Manor driver finally reaches his goal: « It’s my fourth year here and during each of these four years, I’ve always said it’s a great place and how proud I am to be an American. Now, I finally have the chance to drive here, and it has been a long road for me. I am looking forward to starting. »
Without putting too much pressure on himself either, Rossi is aware that his presence on the grid this weekend could have a positive influence on the image of Formula 1 in the United States, which has had a complicated recent history with the discipline: « Representing my country in the national Grand Prix is an honor, a privilege, and a responsibility that I will not take lightly. »
For this occasion, the Manor team slightly modified the colors of its cars by displaying an American flag on the sides of the rear wings.
