Hungary: A Miraculous Point for Sauber and Ericsson

Only 17th and 18th in qualifying on Saturday, the two Sauber drivers managed to avoid all the pitfalls of a spectacular Hungarian Grand Prix to secure an unexpected single point.

Marcus Ericsson, 10th, is of course very happy to have been able to secure a Top 10 finish: It’s really nice to score at least one point on this track that doesn’t really match the characteristics of our car. The start wasn’t ideal and I lost a position. But I felt quite good in the car. On the strategy side, the team called me in at the right time and I think we did a pretty good job. I’m happy to bring a point home before the summer break.

Monisha Kaltenborn shares her driver’s enthusiasm: « A really eventful race where the most important thing was to stay calm and focused. Our two drivers performed well and we bring back an additional point in the championship starting from very far on the grid. »

But Felipe Nasr, only 11th, can’t help but be a little disappointed: « The 11th place is the best we could do considering our position on the grid. The team had a good strategy but once in traffic, my pace was compromised. »
