Nico Hülkenberg knocks on Ferrari’s door

It’s no secret: Nico Hülkenberg has been seeking a more victorious horizon in Formula 1 for years. With his recent victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in the top category of Endurance racing, the German has a strong card to play for a transfer to other opportunities in 2016.

The persistent rumors of Kimi Räikkönen’s possible retirement at the end of the season would leave a seat open at Ferrari. An option that Hülkenberg considers with great interest: « Of course, there are several options that interest me, and no one could say no to Ferrari. I’m knocking on their door as well, of course. »

But the presence of a second German driver within the Scuderia would not really be wanted by Ferrari’s management. The current Force India driver is aware of this but remains positive: « The nationality criterion is not really in my favor. But I don’t know if it’s a factor or not, an impossibility for me. In any case, there are other options. There are other teams that are interested in me, we’ll see. It depends on how events unfold. What will happen with Kimi [Räikkönen]? What will Bottas do? As soon as the first things start to move, there will be a domino effect. »

In the event that Valtteri Bottas would join Scuderia Ferrari, the Finn could give up his seat at Williams to Nico Hülkenberg. In the midst of summer, the Silly Season is indeed in full swing.
