Ferrari reportedly chose Bottas to support Vettel in 2016
It seems that Ferrari has made its choice regarding its driver duo for the 2016 season. While Sebastian Vettel has a long-term contract, Kimi Räikkönen would on the other hand be replaced by the current Williams driver, Valtteri Bottas.
The rumor was growing day by day in the columns of Italian sports newspapers: Kimi Räikkönen’s days at Ferrari were numbered.
In today’s edition, the Corriere dello Sport reveals that Ferrari’s option on the Finnish driver will not be exercised by the deadline of July 31st. The Italian daily even reports that a contract has already been signed with Valtteri Bottas, the current Williams driver, who was reportedly bought out from the English team for an amount of 12 million euros.
No official confirmation is expected before July 31, but this first movement, if confirmed, is expected to lead to others since a seat would then be available within the current third force of the field.
