Lotus: Palmer will replace Grosjean in FP1 until Monza
Lotus test driver Jolyon Palmer is expected to take part in the first Friday morning free practice sessions until the end of the European season, at Monza, in September. The Briton will take Romain Grosjean's place in the car.
As was already the case in China, Bahrain, and Spain this season, Jolyon Palmer, the test driver for the Lotus team, is expected to take part in the next five FP1 sessions, up until the end of the European season in September, at Monza.
The British driver will take Romain Grosjean’s place during these sessions. He is, of course, very happy with the opportunity he has been given: « I’m very happy to drive in the FP1 sessions for the remainder of the European season. I was quite pleased with my performances and the car is constantly improving, so after being an observer during the last two Grand Prix, it’s good to be able to get back on track. »
For his part, Romain Grosjean had already expressed his disagreement about this situation, but his team justified this choice a few days ago through its director, Matthew Carter: « Romain knew before the start of the season what the situation would be, that some free practice sessions had been reserved for Jolyon. We truly believe that Jolyon is a very promising driver and we want to try to give him as much track time as possible. » he confirmed then in the columns of Autosport.
