Ferrari: Marchionne does not expect miracles
After the first test days of the season, Scuderia Ferrari surprised everyone by securing the best times, both with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen. However, the new president of the Reds, Sergio Marchionne, tempers the enthusiasm and does not want to claim victory too quickly.
The first official test sessions, which took place at the beginning of the month in Jerez, have already provided some insights. Among them, the good form of Ferrari and their drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen, who regularly found themselves at the top of the timing sheets.
The team itself thinks that the competition has hidden its game during these days, and Sergio Marchionne, the new president of the Scuderia, echoes these statements and does not want to consider that Ferrari has already won the race: “I am encouraged by the performances of the new car. But it’s one thing to make a fast lap and another to maintain them throughout an entire Grand Prix,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
Marchionne also wants to congratulate his team for the work done so far, even though he doesn’t expect miracles for the upcoming season: « I am proud of the team’s work, but we will see when the championship starts in Australia. There is still a long way to go. I do not expect miracles, but it is important to see progress. In Barcelona, I expect further proof of what we have done so far. »
The next test days will take place in Barcelona from February 19 to 22.
