Vergne made his debut in the Ferrari simulator
Freshly recruited as a development driver by Scuderia Ferrari for 2015, Jean-Eric Vergne has made his first steps in the Italian team's simulator.
After being let go by Toro Rosso at the end of 2014 after three seasons of good and loyal service, Jean-Eric Vergne found refuge at Ferrari as a development driver.
If he is not normally expected to drive a red single-seater in a race in /f1/actualite/19330-vergne-ferrari-une-excellente-opportunite-pour-2016.html, the French driver, with his 58 Grand Prix under his belt, will be able to bring all his experience to the Scuderia in a role focused on development.
In this capacity, the Parisian has already taken his first steps in the Italian simulator: « This year, I will do a lot of work in the simulator and this first experience has already been very useful. I know Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen well, and I am therefore very eager to work with them. »
Even if he hopes to be able to compete for a full-time position in 2016 – maybe Kimi Räikkönen’s spot, who is rumored to be leaving at the end of this year, Jean-Eric Vergne remains focused on his current role within a legendary team he is getting to know: « My first day with Ferrari was something really special. Already, last night, I took a little tour around Maranello and realized how much this town lives and breathes Ferrari. »
Ferrari has planned to present its new single-seater on January 30.
