Official: Situation “very serious but stable” for Jules Bianchi

The terrible accident that Jules Bianchi suffered during the Japanese Grand Prix yesterday has plunged Formula 1 into a dreadful wait.

We know that the French driver underwent surgery last night due to severe head injuries and was subsequently placed in intensive care. Since then, no other official information has emerged until a statement from the Marussia team this morning, which specified that they would wait for Bianchi’s family to be at his bedside to possibly provide more information, according to the wishes of his relatives: « Regarding the communication of information regarding Jules’ health condition, we are guided by and will respect the wishes of the Bianchi family. Therefore, we ask for patience and understanding regarding new medical updates, which will be communicated in collaboration with the Mie Medical Center in Yokkaichi, where Jules is being treated, only when they deem it appropriate. »

Update at 1:20 PM: Julien Fébreau, F1 journalist for Canal +, reported that Jules Bianchi’s family has arrived at the Yokkaichi hospital where the driver is located. Nicolas Todt, his manager, and Professor Gérard Saillant are expected tomorrow.

Update at 15:05: the FIA spokesperson, Matteo Bonciani, informed the media present – including Julien Fébreau – that Jules Bianchi’s condition was really serious, very serious but stable before adding that it was more serious than stable.
