Räikkönen: “I will finish my career at Ferrari”

In the turmoil since the start of the season, one of the only elements of stability for Ferrari seems to be its drivers. Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen have each, in turn, pledged their loyalty to the Scuderia in the media, even though many rumors suggest the Spaniard might be headed elsewhere.

The Finn, however, was keen to ensure that he wanted to end his career at Ferrari, in the short or medium term, without specifying a precise date, as he stated to CNN: « I’m not a young boy anymore so obviously I would like to do something more in my life than Formula 1. »

The future paternity of the 2007 world champion may not be unrelated to this statement. He nevertheless took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to Ferrari without having a specific idea about his future: « I have no plans. I will finish my career at Ferrari and we will see in the future. »

A few weeks ago, the Finn stated that he might probably leave Formula 1 at the end of his contract with Ferrari, at the end of 2015. But Iceman wants to clarify now that nothing is set in stone and the media has deduced his possible retirement a little too quickly: « I never said that. The only thing I said is that I will end my career in Formula 1 with Ferrari. Then people started saying ‘it’s at the end of the year, it’s now, it’s like that’… the media is just trying to create rumors, they want to be the guys writing stories. These are just rumors. »
