Sunday: Kvyat Close to Achieving the Feat for Toro Rosso at Monza
While he started the Italian F1 Grand Prix from the 21st position on the grid, Daniil Kvyat almost made it into the points at the end of the race before being caught by a brake issue. For Jean-Eric Vergne, the race was uneventful due to grip problems.
Daniil Kvyat (No. 26) – 11th
The young Russian, penalized 10 grid positions, had an impressive race, narrowly missing out on points when he could have aimed for more without a braking issue at the first chicane: « I’m disappointed with how my race ended. We had a brake disc failure I think, but I managed to hold on and bring the car home in 11th place. It’s a shame when you give 100% and end the race outside the points, but I’m very happy with my race overall. »
Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 13th
After difficult qualifications, the race was just as much, with the Frenchman even finishing behind his teammate who started 21st: « Since the beginning of the weekend, our performance has not been at the level we would like. Even by working very hard, session after session, to improve the car’s handling, I struggled throughout the race. »
