Dani Juncadella hopes for an F1 seat with Force India in 2015
Financially supported by Astana, a sponsor of Force India, Dani Juncadella hopes to be appointed as a full-time driver by the Indian team in 2015, but not at any cost.
If the transfer rumors are in full swing regarding the top teams, the midfield is not being left out either. On the Force India side, Dani Juncadella, currently a reserve driver, hopes to move up the ranks as early as 2015.
Supported by Astana, which promotes the capital of Kazakhstan and was made famous by its cycling team for which Alberto Contador in 2009 and Vincenzo Nibali, among others, won the Tour de France, the Spanish driver could aim for a seat if Sergio Pérez were to leave, as he is reportedly in talks with other teams.
Questioned by the Iberian newspaper *El Confidential*, Juncadella explains that in the game of seat financing, his sponsor would not play the extravagance card: [Astana] still wants it but it can be the typical game of ‘who will bring the most’, so you never know what might happen. The amounts you hear about some drivers are really absurd. [Astana] trusts me for next season, the choice is clear, but from an economic standpoint, it has to be reasonable.
« My sponsor has supported me for years with amounts of money that are not exaggerated, so it’s not about going year after year with excessive amounts of money, » he explains. A situation that could compromise the future of Dani Juncadella in an extremely competitive market for mid-tier teams that often need funds to progress or even to survive.
« I am in DTM with Mercedes and I am very happy, so in the end, it has to be something that suits everyone, » he concluded. After seven rounds in the DTM championship, the Spaniard is in 19th position, with his best result being a 5th place at the Nurburgring.
This season, aside from pre-season private tests, Daniel Juncadella took part in the first free practice session of the British Grand Prix.
