Sunday: Bianchi penalized for collision with Maldonado at Marussia F1
The Hungarian Grand Prix of Formula 1 almost turned to the advantage of Marussia's competitors, the Saubers, but eventually, everything went well, despite balance issues for Jules Bianchi after the collision with Maldonado.
Jules Bianchi (No. 17) – 15th
The French driver’s race was compromised by the collision with Maldonado: « Difficult race for me because I had to drive for 50 laps with a damaged car having significant balance issues. Maldonado came out of nowhere and hit me on the side. I was really scared he would take me out of the race and I knew this race would be full of opportunities, for me and also for our competitors. »
He was worried about Marussia’s 9th place in the standings: « Even though the Caterhams didn’t run for very long, balance issues prevented me from fighting with the cars ahead, particularly the Saubers, which were in a position to threaten our position in the championship. »
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 16th
On the British side, the race was rather good: « I got a good start and was happy with the way the car performed and that we managed to avoid all the difficulties faced by the drivers who retired. With Kobayashi and Ericsson out of the race, and Jules having to make an unscheduled stop, it was good to be able to move up the field and then, at the end, to have a good fight with Jules to the checkered flag. »
