Saturday: Caterham F1 fails to get ahead of Marussia in Hungary
The Caterham team seemed capable of getting ahead of Marussia, but ultimately both drivers were defeated as Jules Bianchi placed his Marussia in Q2.
Kamui Kobayashi (No. 10) – 19th and 18th [17th on the grid]
For the Japanese driver, it was tire degradation that prevented him from doing better: « In Q1, we were set for two stints with the soft tires and my fastest first lap placed us in 16th position, and with the problem of the Mercedes and the Lotus, it seemed we had a chance to fight for Q2. We waited until the last moment to go out again at the end of the session and my first lap was good, but on the second one, the tires were dead, and I couldn’t get anything more out of them. The car improved a bit throughout the weekend, but I still don’t think I could have done better today. »
Marcus Ericsson (#9) – 21st and 20th [19th on the grid]
A balance issue greatly handicapped the Swede: « I couldn’t find lap time because the car’s balance changed in almost every corner and I couldn’t attack anywhere. It’s very frustrating because we know there’s much better to do. »
