Saturday: Grosjean and Lotus F1 aimed for the top 10
After promising free practice 3 sessions, the Lotus team could do no better than 15th position for Romain Grosjean during the disappointing qualifying for the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix.
Romain Grosjean (No. 8) – 14th and 15th
The Frenchman hoped to aim for Q3, but under normal circumstances, he couldn’t even get ahead of the Saubers: « After a good FP3 session, we thought we could make it to Q3 today. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case… The car wasn’t as good as it was this morning and we still need to understand some things. If we can regain the feeling from FP3, we will be more optimistic for tomorrow’s race. We have learned a lot again this weekend, even if it hasn’t benefited us on the track yet. We will do our best with a small hope for rain that could help us score a few points. »
Pastor Maldonado (No.13) – 13th and No time
For the Venezuelan, the session was short-lived: « Everything in the car was working well until the second of the last corner. Obviously, it’s very disappointing, especially because we thought we could reach Q3 today. We were in a good position to attack and be in the top 10 today, so it’s frustrating. »
« Tomorrow will be a difficult challenge, but as always we will work hard to solve today’s problem and look to maximize the potential in the race. We have a lot of new tires at our disposal and anything can happen here, » he concluded.
