Saturday: Vergne in the top 10, Kvyat falters at Toro Rosso
The qualifying session for the Hungarian GP F1 was relatively good for Scuderia Toro Rosso, which could have hoped to place both of its cars in the top 10, if not for Daniil Kvyat's mistake in Q2.
Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 9th and 8th
The Frenchman thanks his team for providing him with an efficient car during these qualifications: « It was a good qualifying session. The team did an excellent job last night to give me a car that felt much better than yesterday, so well done to everyone and thanks for the great effort. It’s really encouraging for tomorrow, we just need to keep our heads down and stay focused. I’ll give 100% to finish as high as possible and score good points. »
Daniil Kvyat (no. 26) – 10th and 11th
For the Russian, Q3 seemed like a formality to reach, but a mistake on his last flying lap left him in Q2: « It could have been an easy Q3 for me today, but unfortunately, I locked up the rear and spun. I’m frustrated because of this mistake, but I’m confident I will learn from it. I will move on and focus on tomorrow. »
