Friday: Gutierrez made an appearance during FP1 for Sauber F1
The first day of the Hungarian Grand Prix in Formula 1 was relatively calm for Sauber, even though Esteban Gutierrez showed his ease during FP1 before falling back in FP2.
Esteban Gutierrez (No. 21) – 11th and 18th
For the Mexican, the day started well before returning to something more usual, even though he was able to explore several avenues regarding the settings: « It was a good day. We worked on different settings and tried to learn more about the car. The morning session was a little better than the second. We made some changes to the settings in the afternoon to see which ones work better. We collected a lot of data and we will analyze it to find a compromise tomorrow. »
Adrian Sutil (No. 99) – 18th and 14th
On the German side, the observation is that of limited grip where the soft tires are logically more effective: « We tried the soft and medium tires, and it was clear that the softer tires worked better for me. The track is very slippery and driving the car is still difficult. We have less downforce than last year, which makes it difficult to keep the car under control. »
