Friday: Bianchi and Marussia F1 inside at the Hungaroring
The Marussia team did not have a quiet day at the Hungaroring, with reliability issues for Max Chilton during FP1 and Jules Bianchi who was unable to find the right settings.
Jules Bianchi (No. 17) – 22nd and 20th
The Niçois had a difficult start to the day but became more consistent afterwards, although the goal of finishing ahead of the Caterhams wasn’t fully achieved: « We struggled a bit with the car’s balance today, which made it difficult to find a good setup. This morning was very problematic, but we made some progress in the afternoon, though not enough to be ahead of Kobayashi. We will keep pushing to find something extra with the car in time for tomorrow’s qualifying. »
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 21st and 21st
For the Brit, the day didn’t start well. His running in FP1 was greatly disrupted by a gearbox problem: « Another difficult start to the day with the small fire we experienced at the start of FP1. It cost me a large part of the session because we had to change the gearbox, but kudos to the team for pulling off such a performance and allowing me to complete 5 laps. »
« It was enough for me to realize that this afternoon the car was very different at the beginning of FP2, perhaps due to the increase in temperatures and a lack of overall grip, » he concluded.
