Sunday: Sutil had fun but Sauber F1 is far from the mark at Hockenheim
The German Grand Prix in Formula 1 was not good for Sauber, even though some improvement was seen by Adrian Sutil, who was unable to finish the race. For Esteban Gutierrez, the result did not meet expectations.
Esteban Gutierrez (#21) – 14th
Despite a car that seemed more competitive, the Mexican couldn’t do much: The 14th position is not satisfying. I fought the whole race, from start to finish, trying to gain positions and keep cars behind me. At the moment, we lack the pace to be able to fight with those ahead of us. We couldn’t do much more.
Adrian Sutil (n°99) – Retirement (spin)
On the German side, however, the start of the race was interesting: « It was an exciting race with some good battles. I had a lot of fun and it was the first time I was able to fight with other drivers. It’s positive because our car was more competitive this weekend. »
But he ultimately had to give up after coming to a standstill in the middle of the pit straight: « Suddenly, after my last stop, I lost power and when I entered the Stadium, I thought the engine would stop. In the last corner, I had a similar problem, then I spun and this time the engine cut out. »
