German GP: Button admits to overreacting after the collision with Hamilton

The saying goes that only fools don’t change their minds. Jenson Button has, in any case, evolved in his view of the slight collision on the 30th lap of the German Grand Prix, when Lewis Hamilton attempted to pass him on the inside of the hairpin at turn 6. The two men collided, damaging the wing of the Mercedes in the process.

Visibly irritated, in the first instance, against the driver with the number 44, the 2009 world champion explained on Twitter that upon reviewing the footage, his opinion had changed: “After watching the race again, I think I overreacted regarding my feelings about Lewis’s maneuver. I can understand why he thought I was opening the door for him.” Immediately after the incident, Hamilton had indicated to his team: “I thought he was letting me through. He went so wide…”

A few moments later, Button posted a photo of this moment in the race, with the comment: « Stunned that we both managed to take the corner!! F1 put on a great show today, let’s hope it lasts! » There’s a controversy that dies down.
