German GP: The FIA allows Hamilton to start from the grid

Lewis Hamilton will not be forced to start from the pit lane. The FIA has indeed decided that changing the brake discs – switching from Brembo-supplied material to Carbone Industrie-supplied material – does not represent a modification of the car’s specification that would break Parc Fermé rules.

Article 34.2 of the Sporting Regulations states that: « It must be clear that any replacement part a team wants to install must have the same weight, inertia, and function as the original. Any replaced part will be retained by the FIA. »

The technical delegate of the International Federation, Jo Bauer, has evidently agreed to consider that the brake discs provided by Carbone Industrie can replace the brake discs provided by Brembo without any issues.

Lewis Hamilton should not start from the pit lane even though, due to a 5-place penalty, he will only start 20th.
