Sunday: Sutil’s boredom and Gutierrez’s penalty for Sauber F1
The Sauber F1 team did not have a great race at the British Grand Prix, due in particular to difficulties in getting the hard tires to work for Adrian Sutil. For Esteban Gutierrez, the collision with Maldonado ended the race.
Adrian Sutil (no.99) – 13th
The German Grand Prix was evidently not very exciting: « The race was relatively unspectacular for me. It took me a few laps to overtake Jules [Bianchi], but after that, I was able to consistently improve my times. We decided to go with a one-stop strategy. After the stop, I couldn’t make the hard tires work and I wasn’t fast enough anymore. Unfortunately, I rarely got to attack and had to defend most of the time. »
Esteban Gutierrez (n°21) – Retirement (collision)
The Mexican’s race quickly ended following a collision with Pastor Maldonado, for which he was deemed responsible, even though he denies it: “I had a good start. After the restart, I was battling with Pastor. When I tried to overtake him in turn 16, he braked and didn’t leave me enough space. I was already alongside him and couldn’t avoid the collision. I am sorry for the team.”
