Official: Gutierrez penalized after collision with Maldonado
Judged responsible for the collision with Pastor Maldonado during the 2014 British Grand Prix, Esteban Gutierrez was penalized by the stewards.
Three-place grid penalty for the German Grand Prix, that’s the sanction given to Esteban Gutierrez, deemed responsible by the British GP stewards for the lap 14 collision with Pastor Maldonado.
As the Venezuelan attempted a maneuver on Jules Bianchi, Esteban Gutierrez slipped inside, abruptly blocking the path in front of the Lotus which couldn’t avoid it and was propelled a few dozen centimeters off the ground. The Mexican, whose right front tire was too damaged, abandoned his Sauber C33 in the gravel a few hectometers further. Maldonado, on the other hand, managed to continue before withdrawing at the end of the race due to a technical problem.
The two men had already been involved in a spectacular collision earlier in the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where Pastor Maldonado, coming out of the pits, hit Esteban Gutierrez in the first corner, sending him into a roll. On that occasion, it was the Venezuelan who was penalized.
