Williams: Susie Wolff frustrated for her F1 debut

The Williams team’s test driver, Susie Wolff, completed only four laps this morning for her official debut in Formula 1. An oil pressure problem forced her to stop the session, making her the sixth woman in the history of the discipline to drive a Formula 1 car during an official session.

The Scottish woman was inevitably a little disappointed by the end of the morning: « It was quite a tough day, but sometimes Formula 1 is like that. We had an oil pressure problem, which stopped the engine. The mechanics looked at what they could do and fortunately, the car will be ready for FP2. »

But this first experience in Formula 1 will nonetheless remain a strong memory for the 31-year-old driver: « I would first like to say a big thank you for all the support I received. Being on the track was just the best feeling, because aside from all the media around me, when you put on your helmet, it’s immense. »

Her first encounter with the FW36 was quite positive as the young woman felt quite comfortable behind the wheel: « I had rather good sensations in the car and thought I would improve progressively. In the end, it was a rather short run, but I have to keep my head up and focus on Hockenheim. I really felt ready today, the team did a fantastic job preparing me. It’s nice to have finally made my first outing during a Grand Prix weekend, and I will continue to work until Hockenheim knowing what I have to do and being sure that I feel good in the car. »

Indeed, Susie Wolff is also expected to participate in the first free practice session of the German Grand Prix taking place in two weeks.
