Saturday: Vergne leads the charge for Toro Rosso

Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 9th and 8th

With an eighth position on the grid, the Parisian believes he has every chance to have a good race if bad luck stays away: « We did excellent work in qualifying. The field is tight, so you really need to nail the perfect lap, extracting the maximum from the car. The team and I managed to achieve our goals, and it’s the result that rewards all the hard work we’ve put in. Starting 8th on the grid is very promising, and I’m really going to do my best to finish the race and bring back good points. »

Daniil Kvyat (#26) – 8th and 15th

For the Russian, the lack of running during FP2 was felt even if the sensations in the morning of the qualifying session were good: « I am disappointed with my qualifications. After limited running yesterday, the team worked hard overnight and everything seemed to work well during FP3. Then, during qualifying, I found the car difficult to drive and experienced some brake issues. We will have to analyze this in detail, but I’m sure we will be good for [the race]. It’s not ideal to start 15th, but as always, I will give 100% and hope to finish the race as high as possible. »
